What I Ate
What I Ate from Whistler Whatever on Vimeo.
I’ve been taking photos for many years, but usually of people, buildings or places I’ve traveled. However, I started taking photos of food a while back. I got inspired to take photos of what I eat. I managed to photography everything I ate for a full calendar year – 2009.
Initially, I wasn’t sure what to do with the photos – over 2000 of them. However, time lapse and some music make it bearable and give it some justification for my effort.
Bon appetit.

Great video, Garry, and would make a good response to people who claim that veganism is too restrictive.

Thanks Rosemary. In the back of my mind, this is a response to people that ask me, “What do you eat??” and many similar questions.

I guess it’s a good answer for the the questions like “What do you eat?”
You’ve found a great way to show that vegans aren’t starving and that we eat much more than “just an air”
Good job, man ^^

Wait what. You ate at 283 restaurants? In a year? More money than sense!
That good looks revolting too. Why is there no delicious meat? I gotta be honest I had a mountain of bacon before I went for my marathon training before, tasted out of this world especially when dripping in butter.

Hi Stee – It’s staggering when you add it up. I really didn’t know how many visits or money that I spent in restaurants until I added it up.
The visits are high because I work for a ski resort and I eat on the mountain almost everyday when I work (which is almost everyday) in the winter. This accounted for about 100 visits (out of 150 days on the mountain in 2009).
I also traveled for about six weeks in 2009, so that probably accounted for another 100 visits. If I didn’t work or travel, my restaurant visits would have be considerably lower. I spent almost $4000 in restaurants, which doesn’t seem like that much money considering some probably spend that much in coffee shops/cafes alone!
Ha ha, it’s a good thing you train! Don’t forget to top that off with a diet coke!
